Apple is preparing to overhaul Siri from a voice assistant into a conversational AI chatbot, marking the most dramatic change since it launched in 2011. The overhaul, internally called Campos, will debut with iOS 27 later this year and replace Siri’s existing interface entirely, according to Bloomberg.Users will still activate the chatbot using familiar methods—saying “Siri” or holding the iPhone’s side button—but the experience will mirror ChatGPT and Google Gemini’s conversational style. Apple tested the chatbot as a standalone app but plans to embed it directly into iOS, iPadOS, and macOS instead, integrating it across the operating system.
