Meta’s Threads has quietly pulled ahead of Elon Musk’s X in the one place that matters most: people’s phones. New data from analytics firm Similarweb shows Threads hit 141.5 million daily active users on iOS and Android in early January 2026, compared to X’s 125 million mobile users.

Threads has been climbing steadily—up 37.8% over the past year—while X’s mobile audience has shrunk by nearly 12% in the same window.
