Hyderabad techie falls prey to online trading, IPO investment scam, loses 3 crore

Hyderabad: A 45-year-old IT professional from Tellapur lost over 2.9 crore to fraudsters operating a bogus online stock-market investment and IPO-allotment racket, police said.

According to the Cyberabad cybercrime sleuths, who registered a case on Friday, the victim from Gopanapally was researching online about the stock market on Nov 12, 2025, when a pop-up led him to a WhatsApp group run by a man, who introduced himself as Anil Goel, a stock market investment advisor.
