Viasat, BSNL to modernise Indian Navy’s satcom infra with Ka-band systems
NEW DELHI: The US-based Viasat and the state-owned telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will deploy Ka-band satellite systems for the Indian Navy, as part of a satellite communications (satcom) equipment upgrade programme that is set to commence in late January.
Under an agreement signed between BSNL and the Indian defense forces, Viasat’s high-capacity Ka-band satellite systems will be deployed, alongside its existing L-band infrastructure, to deliver enhanced and secure connectivity for Indian naval platforms, the companies said in a joint statement on Friday.
