ChatGPT-maker OpenAI acquires health-care startup Torch: Read cofounders’ note to company
OpenAI is expanding its wings into the medical sector with the acquisition of healthcare startup Torch that works to solve the problem of data siloization in the health industry by aggregating a patient’s scattered health information, including lab results, medication lists, hospital visit recordings, and data from wearables, into one profile. The deal involves the acquisition of both Torch’s technology and its team.
According to a report by CNBC, the financial terms were not publicly disclosed but the companies are said to have agreed on approximately $60 million. Asper OpenAI, this technology will now be integrated directly into ChatGPT Health.
