Meta says it will not remove third-party AI chatbots from WhatsApp
Facebook-parent company Meta has announced that it will exclude Italy from its ban on third-party AI chatbots on WhatsApp. Citing a notice sent to developers last week, news agency Reuters reported that the company has compiled with the interim order from the country’s antitrust authority (AGCM). The report said that phone numbers with an Italian country code (+39) are exempt from WhatsApp’s updated terms of service. According to new terms, WhatsApp prohibited AI companies from using the WhatsApp Business Solution if AI is their primary offering. The new rules come into effect on January 15.
