OpenAI shifts AI device manufacturing to Foxconn: Report

OpenAI is reportedly moving manufacturing of its first AI-powered consumer device to Foxconn, as it speeds up plans to launch a new product designed by former Apple designer Jony Ive. The move signals a shift away from China-based production and a push to build a more diversified supply chain. According to a report by Taiwan-based outlet UDN, OpenAI has shifted the project from Luxshare to Foxconn due to concerns around manufacturing in mainland China. The device is now expected to be assembled either in Vietnam or the United States, in line with OpenAI’s preference to avoid China-centric production.
