‘No continuing China-link’: Facebook-parent Meta clarifies after $2 billion Manus AI deal

Meta has confirmed that its acquisition of Singapore-based AI startup Manus in a deal reportedly valued at more than $2 billion. It has been reported that the Manus has Chinese roots but a Meta spokesperson clarified that there would be “no continuing Chinese ownership interests in Manus AI” post-transaction.

According to the spokesperson (via Fortune), to comply with Meta’s operational standards and geopolitical considerations, Manus will also shutter all services and operations within mainland China, refocusing its efforts entirely on its Singapore headquarters.
