Centre extends telecom equipment security certification scheme by one year, cuts lab testing fee

The government has extended the security certification scheme for telecom equipment by another year and announced measures to lower compliance costs and speed up approvals.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has also reduced application fees for Telecom Security Testing Laboratories (TSTLs) and simplified security assurance requirements for Optical Network Terminator (ONT) devices, a key component used in fibre broadband networks, Union communications minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said in a statement late Monday.
