5G network APIs to become necessity for telecom in 2026 & beyond, says Capgemini executive
NEW DELHI: Programmable network software is expected to become a ‘necessity’ for the global telecom industry from 2026 onwards, as telcos chase fifth-generation (5G) technology-driven monetisation, according to French IT services firm Capgemini.
“APIs (application programming interfaces), in my view, are a vehicle for telcos to modernise and prepare for a shift from connecting humans and phones to connecting tens of billions of devices,” Sandeep Arora, vice president & industry platform leader for telecom (India), Capgemini, told ETTelecom in an interview.
