Consumer panel orders refund over failed broadband plan
Chandigarh: The district consumer disputes redressal commission has directed a telecom service provider to refund ₹12,729 and pay ₹7,000 as compensation and litigation costs to a Sector 42 resident after finding deficiency in service and unfair trade practice, reports Sukhmani Kooner.
The complainant stated that he paid for a one-year fibre wired broadband plan in March 2024, but was given a wireless connection instead. Despite assurances that the service would offer unlimited data, he began receiving alerts about data exhaustion within 18 days. He sought disconnection and refund in April, returned the device, and received written assurance of a refund, which never materialised.
