Nvidia joins big tech deal wave, to sign $20 bn in-licensing pact for Groq chip technology and talent

CHENNAI: Nvidia has struck a strategic licensing and talent deal with artificial intelligence chip startup Groq, marking its entry into a growing wave of unconventional partnerships through which Big Tech companies are strengthening their AI capabilities without pursuing outright acquisitions. Under the arrangement, Nvidia will license Groq’s chip technology and bring several of the startup’s top executives and engineers into its own ranks in a deal valued at $20 billion, while Groq will continue to operate as an independent company, according to reports.
