DoT’s financial fraud risk indicator helps prevent ₹660 crore losses since launch

NEW DELHI: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on Monday said that the financial fraud risk indicator (or FRI) has prevented potential losses of ₹660 crore across the banking ecosystem within six months of the rollout of this initiative.

The FRI initiative was launched on May 22, 2025.

“As reported by various public sector banks, private sector banks, co-operative banks, TPAPs and other financial institutions, a large number of suspicious transactions have been either declined or issued with alerts by leveraging the FRI available on the DIP (Digital Intelligence Platform) of DoT,” the telecom department said in an official statement.
