Tata Play gets time till February 3 to respond to Sony charge
The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) has given Tata Play time until February 3 to respond to Sony Pictures Networks India’s (SPNI) allegation that the DTH operator delayed sharing data with an independent auditor.
SPNI, which operates 28 channels, and Tata Play, with about 16.5 million subscribers, have been locked in a dispute since May over commercial terms. Tata Play had dropped Sony channels from its subscription packs, though they continue to be offered on an a la carte basis. Senior counsel Amit Sibal, appearing for SPNI, told the tribunal that Tata Play shared the required data belatedly and that some information was subsequently deleted. These issues, he said, were also flagged by the independent auditor in an email dated November 11, 2025.
