OpenAI hires Google executive who worked on Cloud and Google DeepMind: What makes this ‘important’ for ChatGPT-maker

ChatGPT-maker OpenAI has hired a key corporate development executive from Google to lead its own corporate development. The hiring comes as Silicon Valley is witnessing an aggressive focus on strategic investments and acquisitions amid the intensifying AI race. According to CNBC, a company spokesperson confirmed that Albert Lee, who previously led corporate development for both Google Cloud and Google DeepMind, has been hired to oversee corporate development at OpenAI.

Analysts view Lee’s move as a key strategic hire because during his tenure at Google, he was involved in several high-profile acquisitions, including the massive $32 billion purchase of the cloud security startup Wiz, announced in March.
