OpenAI is in preliminary discussions to raise at least $10 billion from Amazon and adopt the e-commerce giant’s Trainium chips, potentially delivering another blow to Nvidia’s dominance in the AI semiconductor market, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The deal under discussion could value OpenAI north of $500 billion and marks a significant shift in the artificial intelligence infrastructure landscape, The Information first reported.
