One in five Vodafone Idea users inactive, finds study

Mumbai: India’s number three telco Vodafone Idea (Vi) may have managed to stop significant subscriber losses to larger rivals in recent quarters but over one-fifth of its user base remains inactive, according to a new study.

Out of the 197.2 million users Vi reported for the June-September quarter, only 154.7 million are active and generating revenue, IIFL Capital said in a report.

This could be the key reason why its average revenue per user (ARPU), voice minutes usage and data consumption is significantly lower than peers Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio.
