India crosses 5 lakh 5G towers, Govt tells Parliament — But can it bridge the digital divide?

India has installed more than five lakh 5G mobile towers across the country as of October 2025, as per an answer shared by Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Minister of Communications, in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, while responding to a starred question on the status of 5G rollout and rural digital infrastructure.

5G Expansion: Over 5.08 lakh BTS installed

According to the statement available on the Digital Sansad’s website, telecom service providers have set up 5.08 lakh 5G BTS (Base Transceiver Stations) nationwide till 31 October 2025.
