Govt removes mandatory pre-installation of Sanchar Saathi App amid Oppn’s ‘snooping’ claims

The Centre has withdrawn its directive to mandate pre-installation of the Sanchar Saathi cyber safety app on all smartphones amid the Opposition’s allegations of ‘breach of privacy and snooping’. However, the government said the move to roll back is people’s participation their own.

The move comes just days after the government asked handset makers to preload the app to widen access to cyber protection for citizens.
