OpenAI CEO Sam Altman believes that the AI device his company is developing with Apple’s former chief designer Jony Ive will be better than the iPhone. How? The chief executive of the company behind ChatGPT has predicted that the upcoming AI device will offer users a more peaceful experience than existing consumer technology products, including the iPhone. Speaking with Apple co-founder Steve Jobs’ wife, Laurene Powell Jobs, at the Emerson Collective, Altman compared the experience of using modern devices to “walking through Times Square in New York,” filled with flashing lights, notifications and constant noise competing for attention.

He believes such an experience undermines peace and focus.
