New Delhi: Higher prices of entry-level 5G smartphones due to rising component costs is threatening to stall the rapid growth in this segment, delaying democratisation of this latest wireless technology and hurting telecom operator revenues, said industry executives and market trackers.
Top handset manufacturers are looking to either reduce their footprint in the segment or exit altogether as higher costs of components used in entry-level smartphones are eroding gross margins, they said.
