Verizon to layoff 13,000 employees as US telco ‘reorients’ business

NEW DELHI: US telecom carrier Verizon is laying off more than 13,000 employees, as part of a reorientation strategy brought by its new chief executive, Dan Schulman, the Associated Press reported early on Friday.

Citing a staff memo from Schulman, the news agency said the job cuts began on Thursday. He reportedly said that Verizon’s current cost structure “limits” the company’s ability to invest, pointing particularly to customer experiences.
