The European Commission has said that it will streamline and ease several key technology regulations, including delaying major provisions of its landmark AI Act, in a move which can be seen as a victory for tech giants like Google, Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta and OpenAI. The effort, dubbed a ‘Digital Omnibus,’ aims to cut red tape and boost Europe’s competitiveness following intense criticism against the continent’s stringent regulatory landscape.
