Editors Guild highlights gaps in DPDP Rules, seeks clarity for media safeguards

The Editors Guild of India (EGI) has raised serious concerns over the newly notified rules under the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, saying key issues remain unresolved and could severely impact press freedom and journalistic work.

While the new rules notified last week operationalise the Act, they leave unanswered questions about explicit protections for journalism and media organisations, the guild said in a statement on Wednesday.
