How China’s TikTok may have just saved Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta from billions of dollar fine and forced selling of WhatsApp and Instagram

Mark Zuckerberg has received good news. Facebook parent company Meta Platforms has defeated a US attempt to unwind its acquisitions of Instagram and WhatsApp. US federal judge has dismissed the government’s high-profile antitrust lawsuit against Meta, ruling that the company’s acquisitions of Instagram and WhatsApp more than a decade ago did not amount to illegal monopolization of the social-media market.

The decision marks a major victory for Meta after a five-year legal battle that began when the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) alleged that the company bought the two platforms in 2012 and 2014 to neutralize emerging competitive threats and maintain its dominance.
