Haryana’s Rs 850 crore cyber fraud crisis deepens

Cyber fraud is rising at an unprecedented rate in Haryana, with the state losing in excess of ?850 crore to online scams during 2024. According to Sub-Inspector Vikas Beniwal of PS Cyber Manesar, Gurugram alone accounted for one-fifth of these cases, underlining the magnitude of the challenge facing law enforcement authorities. Beniwal was addressing a fraud awareness programme entitled “Knock Out Digital Fraud”, organised jointly by Haryana Police and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BFL) at Government College, Sidhrawali.
