Ericsson files patent suits against Chinese smartphone maker Transsion in India, Brazil, Nigeria

NEW DELHI: Swedish telecom gear maker Ericsson has sued Chinese smartphone brand Transsion in India, Brazil, Nigeria, and at the Unified Patent Court, alleging that the latter has refused to license its 4G and fifth-generation (5G) patents on FRAND (Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory) terms.

“Despite almost a decade of negotiations, Transsion continues to reject Ericsson’s FRAND offers while failing to enter into a global patent license agreement,” Ericsson said in a statement recently.
