Delhi Police arrests six cybercriminals in week-long crackdown on online scams
New Delhi: In a week-long crackdown, Delhi Police has arrested six cybercriminals involved in a series of online frauds across the city.
In the first case, two men were held in west Delhi for defrauding an 82-year-old woman from Hari Nagar of Rs 11 lakh through a “digital arrest” scam. The accused — identified as Shiva (19) and Punit Kumar (22) — were arrested from Faridabad, Haryana. Last year, on July 8, the victim received a WhatsApp video call from a man impersonating a police officer, who falsely claimed she was involved in a money-laundering case and coerced her into transferring the money.
