Tejas Networks wins DWDM capacity upgradation deal from PowerTel

Tejas Networks has won a software-defined network (SDN)-based DWDM deployment deal from PowerGrid Teleservices, which will see the homegrown telecom gear maker upgrading the latter’s capacity to 400Gbps.

The deal includes network design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and integration of 400Gbps DWDM system at new greenfield sites and for the upgradation of existing links, according to a statement by Tejas on Monday.

The companies, however, did not disclose financial terms of the contract.

The Tata group vendor will deploy its multi-terabit TJ1600 DWDM optical transport network (OTN) gear that is capable of delivering up to 1.2Tbps over a single wavelength and also supports advanced alien wavelength technology.

“We are delighted to extend our long-standing partnership with PowerTel to augment the backbone capacity of their pan-India DWDM network to address the exploding demand for high-bandwidth connectivity from data center providers, telcos, government and large enterprises,” said Arnob Roy, COO & ED of Tejas Networks.
