Microsoft Teams may soon share your location when you’re in office: What it means for users
Microsoft Teams is reportedly adding a new feature that will automatically set a user’s work location when they connect to an office Wi-Fi network. The update is said to be designed to reduce confusion about where employees are physically situated. According to a Microsoft 365 roadmap seen by TechRadar, “when users connect to their organisation’s Wi-Fi, Teams will automatically set their work location to reflect the building they are working in.” However, this change could eliminate employees’ ability to find a quiet, untracked space in the office premises. The new tool is currently in development and is expected to be released in December 2025, the report added. When released, the feature will be available to Teams users on both Windows and Mac globally, the report noted.
