AI-driven cybercrime threatens India’s $5 trillion dream

Sophisticated cybercriminals deploying artificial intelligence (AI) as a weapon are taking advantage of inadequate corporate defences in India, CrowdStrike’s latest Asia Pacific eCrime report found. This raises alarm bells for the country’s $5 trillion economic ambitions.

Though the Asia Pacific region represents more than half of the world’s population, only 9% of ransomware victims worldwide are from this region. But this gap is closing fast, with India leading the regional victim counts. Adam Meyer, CrowdStrike’s head of counter adversary operations, warns that this is a ticking time bomb rather than protection.
