However, the company conspicuously avoided mentioning a crucial detail during its livestream announcement: Atlas runs on Chromium, the same open-source foundation powering Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and numerous competitors.

The revelation only surfaced through a support page buried on OpenAI’s website, which states: “Atlas is OpenAI’s Mac browser built on Chromium.”
