C-DAC eyeing exascale leap by 2030 via supercomputing mission 2.0
The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) is gearing up for the second phase of the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM), which will shift focus to top-of-the-line exaflop-scale supercomputers, enabling breakthroughs in areas like artificial intelligence and quantum research.
Groundwork for NSM 2.0 is underway even as the current petaflop-scale mission phase is nearing its finish, CDAC Bengaluru executive director SD Sudarsan told ET.
The Union cabinet is expected to approve a new outlay significantly higher than the ₹4,500 crore for NSM 1.0, he said. Internal proposals and technical specifications for exascale targets are being prepared, he added.
