AI to assist in city police services
Chennai: Soon, Chennaites may not have to visit a police station or wait on hold for the ‘100’ operator to get updates on a complaint or traffic fine. A new AI-powered virtual assistant proposed by the Greater Chennai Police (GCP) will let citizens chat, talk, or video-call with the police in Tamil or English through familiar messaging and social media platforms or even kiosks that are being planned at public places.
The GCP has invited tech firms to develop a conversational artificial intelligence (AI) platform. This will allow citizens to interact with the police through chatbots, voice assistants, and video bots in Tamil and English.
