Google is setting up a $15 billion artificial intelligence (AI) facility in Visakhapatnam. During a recent conversation with Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff at Dreamforce, the tech giant’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, confirmed that once finished, this facility, which is the company’s “largest ever AI investment outside the US,” will be its first AI hub in India. The investment will span five years (2026-2030) and combine gigawatt-scale data centre operations, new energy sources, and an expanded fibre-optic network, Google announced earlier. “We announced our largest ever AI investment outside the US, a $15 billion one gigawatt plus data centre, 80% powered by clean energy with subsea cables going in,” Pichai said. He emphasised that such an investment could completely transform the region.
