Cyber fraudsters dupe two employees of over 4cr through fake stock apps
Hyderabad: Posing as representatives of reputed stock brokerage firms, cyber fraudsters have duped two private employees from the city of over 4.15 crore. Based on the victims’ complaints, two separate cases were registered at the Cyberabad cybercrime police station on Friday.
In the first case, a 42-year-old software engineer from Gandipet came across an Instagram advertisement for ‘Savart Investment Advisors’ and, upon clicking a link, joined a purported WhatsApp learning group run by one ‘professor Aswini Merani’. An accomplice, posing as an analyst named Priya Dharshini, persuaded him to download a fake app called ‘SAT FIN’, promising privileged block trades and IPO allotments.
