Ex-Google CEO Eric Schmidt recently warned that the US could lose AI race to China. In an All In Podcast interview with venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya and David Sacks, Eric Schmidt said that he believed both countries were competing on equal footing, but China is “really doing something more different” than US. “They’re very focused on taking AI and applying it to everything…consumer apps, robots, and so forth,” Schmidt said, adding US restrictions on semiconductor exports and China’s limited access to capital have slowed the country’s pursuit of AGI – Artificial General Intelligence.

Artificial General Intelligence refers to a type of artificial intelligence that can perform a wide range of tasks at a human level of understanding.
