Hyderabad: With authorities cracking down on fraudulent international calls to curb cyber crime, Cambodia and Myanmar-based gangs have found a new tool to dupe India citizens of crores of rupees — SIM boxes. The method helps cyber fraudsters convert overseas calls into local calls, making it easier to trap their victims and also stay out of the police’s radar.
This year, the Telangana police, in coordination with the department of telecommunication (DoT), have so far busted three such rackets operating out of the state.
