Maharashtra allocates land in 930 villages for BSNL towers
The Maharashtra government has given the green light for land allocation in 930 villages to state-run telecom carrier Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for setting up mobile towers, in a bid to extend internet facilities to rural areas across the state, according to a report by news agency PTI.
As per an official order on Thursday, this follows a revised proposal from BSNL after encountering technical difficulties in a previous plan. The project seeks to expand 4G coverage, particularly in remote and tribal regions, by providing land free of cost for tower installation.
