Cooperation, not regulation, to enable India to capture 10% share in 6G patents

India is uniquely positioned to be a global leader in ethical and equitable technology. As the second largest smartphone manufacturer and leading manufacturer of telecom equipment, India has all the key components in place. The draft National Telecom Policy 2025, just recently released, proposes incentives to use equipment designed and manufactured in India. If implemented well, this will boost indigenous innovation, patent filings, and India’s role in development of global technical standards.
