How Google Chrome ruling may be ‘good news’ for Apple despite end of ‘exclusive’ agreements

Google has largely won its landmark antitrust case after a five-year legal battle. The US District Judge, Amit Mehta, issued a ruling that stops short of the most severe penalties sought by the Department of Justice (DoJ), which had accused Google of an illegal monopoly in the online search market. While the judge did impose some key restrictions on the tech giant, the decision is a significant win for Google as it avoids being broken up. Apple, despite not being a party in the search monopoly trial, may have a ‘good news’.

According to a report by CNBC, while the judge placed restrictions on Google’s payments for “exclusive” distribution, he stopped short of banning them completely.
