“The day is not far away when India’s smallest chip will drive the world’s biggest change,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared at Semicon India 2025, underlining India’s ambitions in the semiconductor sector. He described semiconductors as the “digital diamonds” of the 21st century, tiny yet immensely powerful components driving global innovation and economic growth.
Modi outlined a roadmap to position India as a hub for semiconductor design, manufacturing and innovation. Anchored in the vision of a self-reliant Atmanirbhar Bharat, the plan aims to make India a key player in a sector central to the modern economy.
