Change of Cart: Tata plans CEO change at BigBasket

Grocery etailer BigBasket’s founders have held discussions with Tata Group to step away from day-to-day operations and transition into mentoring roles, people aware of the matter said. CEO Hari Menon’s five-year tenure is nearing completion following the conglomerate’s acquisition of the Bengaluru-based company in 2021.

According to people in the know, Menon has been shortlisting candidates in consultation with the company’s board over the past few months, as he charts a succession plan. A new executive may soon take charge as CEO as Tata Sons looks to sharpen BigBasket’s positioning in the hyper-competitive quick commerce market against Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart and Zepto.
