Indore’s Smart City surveillance network plan hits a roadblock

Indore Municipal Corporation’s (IMC) ambitious vision to turn MP’s commercial capital into a “safe city” through a comprehensive surveillance network has hit a roadblock.

The initiative, dubbed the “Indore Community Camera (Surveillance) Bylaws 2024,” aimed to install CCTVs at a staggering 13,165 locations, leveraging community participation to bolster security. However, nearly a year after the bylaws were passed by the state government, the project failed to move forward due to the IMC’s inability to hire a Master System Integrator (MSI).
