Festive smartphone sales may remain flat despite GST cut, strong monsoon: Samsung India

Smartphone sales during the upcoming festive season may remain flat by volume or the number of units sold as compared to last year, even though consumers in smaller towns may increase their consumption aided by the overall cut in goods and services tax (GST) and robust monsoon, says Raju Pullan, who heads the mobile phone business of Samsung India.

However, the country’s largest smartphone manufacturer by revenue expects there will be a growth in value sales or by revenue as consumers buy more premium smartphones in both urban and rural areas.
