Cyber fraud: Nepali security guard held for taking Rs 2.8L loan against FD in Mumbai

Mumbai: A Nepali national working as a security guard at a highrise has been arrested by Bangur Nagar Police for a cybercrime where a loan was fraudulently taken online against a woman’s fixed deposits and the money withdrawn. Police said the accused splurged most of the Rs 2.79 lakh that he withdrew in playing rummy. Police are now looking for his associates.
The 58-year-old complainant works as a househelp and was saving up for her teenage daughter’s education. Her 63-year-old husband used to work as a civic labourer and currently stays at home.
