OpenAI CEO Sam Altman revealed that colleagues believe his new role as a father will improve his decision-making for humanity’s future, describing parenthood as a life-changing experience that has “totally rewired” his priorities. The 40-year-old AI leader welcomed a baby boy in February with his husband, Australian software engineer Oliver Mulherin, through surrogacy.

“A lot of people have said, ‘I’m very happy you’re having a kid, because I think you’ll make better decisions for humanity as a whole,'” Altman told Bloomberg TV in a June interview at OpenAI’s San Francisco headquarters.
