GENIUS Act

The US Senate passed Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for US Stablecoins Act (better known as the GENIUS Act), by a bipartisan vote of 68–30, reflecting a rare consensus on the need for a clear regulatory framework in the rapidly evolving world of digital assets. It was later signed into law by President Donald J Trump, cementing a structured path for stablecoin oversight and industry growth.
At its core, the GENIUS Act seeks to ensure that only approved and qualified entities may issue payment stablecoins in the US. The law prohibits any entity other than a permitted issuer from launching new payment stablecoins after enactment.
