Hyderabad: Cyber fraudsters have adopted a new modus operandi (MO) to dupe victims. Posing as representatives of banks offering credit cards with limits up to 50 lakh, they send mobile handsets pre-installed with SMS forwarding apps to victims, convincing them to install their SIM for DoT verification. A contractor from Madhapur lost 77 lakh to the tricksters through the new MO and approached police.
A few days ago, the 44-year-old private contractor from Madhapur received a call from a fraudster offering Citibank Prestige Credit Card with a limit of 50 lakh.
