Trai again: DoT dials up heat on telemarketers

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has once again asked the telecom regulator to issue recommendations to regulate telemarketers, backing a key demand of mobile phone operators to curb spam messages and calls, people aware of the matter said.

DoT’s latest communication to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has stressed the need to regulate telemarketers, which are a key link in the entire promotional and marketing communication space.
